X-Men Origins: Wolverine Uncaged Edition Concept Art Part 2

Somehow this slipped by me and I never put up more art from 2009's Wolverine movie game.  This stuff is from the jungle flashback.  If I recall correctly we were looking to have it somewhere in southeast Asia but then the movie changed it to Africa to have them look for Vibramium or something like that.  There's tons more so I'll sort through it and put some more pages together.  Hopefully it won't be a year or two between that.

Some early grayscale paintings and drawings.  More of a Asian feel than African.
Here's a discarded boss battle idea.  We would've had a mutant able to manipulate the big temple.

Working with a designer on a puzzle idea on how to get across a gorge.

Concepts for assets that made it into the game.

Proposing ideas on how we can inflict damage on our hero.

Random assets and area concepts.

Ame Comi Pinup

Here's a sample pinup of how I'd draw the characters for DC's Ame Comi comics based off the figure line they have.  Didn't get the main job but would still like to do something for it when I get the time.

The Star Trek/ Legion of Superheroes Hardcover

IT'S OUT!

Really nice package that IDW did for it.  I am honored to see our work collected like that.  I think Amazon still has it at an amazing pre order price, but from what I understand the comic shop versions have a dust jacket that has Giffen's cover on it.

Coming soon! VIDEO GAME GALS: The Kickstarter Campaign

It's not up yet, so don't go to Kickstarter.com looking for it, but feel free to check the site out and the many creative projects people are backing and once mine goes up please join me in getting Video Game Gals out into the real world!  I'm planning on starting it before Comic-Con International and ending it after Chicago Comicon in August.

SPRINGCON 2012 is here! May 19th and 20th.

If you happen to be in the Minneapolis area and would like to attend this great comic con, featuring over 200 artists and lots of vendors, then drop on by the State Fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday!  I will be attending and will have prints for sale, original art from the Star Trek/ Legion of Superheroes Crossover, my run of sketchbooks, and will be doing commission as well.  Just click on the link in the convention box to the right for more information.

Pixel Art

Here are three characters I concepted for a pixel art test.  Each character was to fit in a  20 by 20 pixel box.  You might have to really blow them up to see what detail is there.  Pretty fun as I've never done it before.  So if you need pixel art and like what you see, feel free to get in touch.

I worked on them at a 1:1 ratio.

Star Trek/ Legion of Superheroes #6 Pencil Highlights

Suped up agony booths!  Heroes tortured!  Oh my...

Brainy channeling McCoy.  Me channeling De lancie

Nice caveman shot.

The Amalgam Fatal Five return.

Nice group shot.

and we're back to normal timelines.  Snuck Q into panel 2.  Seemed appropriate.

Not sure if it's canon, but Trelane was from the Q Continuum as revealed in the novel "Q Squared", I believe.  So that's why Q has a Trelane type get up.

Not sure when it takes place but wanted to sneak in as much reference from "Requiem for Methusela".  The robot, and whatever might be on the table, under the sheet.

And a nice shot exploring the wonders of the universe!

Star Trek/ Legion of Superheroes #5 Pencil Highlights

It was nice shifting between the two timelines and drawing posh places and then places like their cell.

New character designs based off the alternate universe uniforms and their originals respectively.

Flint Flashback.  Montages are fun.

...and for Vandal Savage.

Joke Chris Roberson put in, but the Cham tongue was me.  Only place it felt appropriate to this point.

The host joins us.  Wanted to see some familiar faces for the girls in front.  The one on the right is suppose to be Shanah from "The Gamesters of Triskelion"

Another visual joke put in for Brain and Spock "thinking".

Forgot to tell the colorist that's Kono in panel 1, so she just looks like a human and Kirk looks to chasing tail.

Original captured time machine room.  Different from what's in the book.

EA Art Test

Recently did an art test for Electronic Arts where I had to pick two genres and then create a costume for each that could crossover between a male, female, and male brute body type (so no skirts or bare chests).  I picked Superhero and Fantasy.  Each one needed color realistic and cartoony design, then throw in an anime version and a turnaround for any of the designs.  This is what I came up with in the two day time allotted.

Come on out to C2E2 !

The weekend is nearly upon us and the Chicago convention known as C2E2 is upon us. My brother and I will be attending and setting up in Artist Alley at table C2.  That should be easy to remember.  :)

I'll have sketchbooks, prints, and original art from Star Trek/ Legion of Superheroes for sale.  My commission list will be open on a first come first serve basis and I'll be taking a limited number of names each day, so if you miss out on the one day, please come back the following.

No new sketchbook for this year, but a couple new prints of color covers I've done will be available in 11" by 14" size.

Looking forward to seeing you out there!

Some online commissions

Here are some commissions that I did at home through email.  Some were more standard commissions but if you're looking for something more complicated as others were, you'd want me to do it at home.

But if you were looking for something sooner and are in the Kansas City area, drop by Planet Comicon this weekend.
