Catching up on old stuff...

Well it's not really all that old, but it has been a while since I had done these. They were done during a figure drawing class I attended and were both done during the same sitting. I forget which was done first. Maybe the ebony pencil on the newsprint then the color pencil on the canson paper.... I don't suppose it really matters but there you go.

Well, Madison is in for a winter storm warning so why not have some fun in the snow? Here's a little preview of this year's Christmas card. Wonder if it'll be a snow day tomorrow. If it is I could probably get the card done!

Christmas Card preview

Yeah, it's been a while since my last post. But here's something to look at for now. Every year I try and do a Christmas card with my Video Game Gals characters, and every year it's a kinda last minute thing, but oh, what's this? This year, I've gotten a jump on it and have a prelim ready to be lighttabled and then tightened up and colored. We'll have to see if I can manage to get it done in a short time. Here's a study of what the theme of my card will be. Happy Life Day everyone!

FALLCON: MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA OCTOBER 4TH AND 5TH, 2008

Hey everyone, just to let you know, albeit short notice, that I'll be at Fallcon this coming weekend. The guys at MCBA always run a great, fun show and it's their 20th anniversary, so if you check out their website, you'll see they have a great sketchcard collection done by over 170 artists! Read what they have planned and I'm sure you'll want to attend.
I'll be doing sketches, have my past sketchbooks and prints for sale. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get another sketchbook together for this year. But I will have a Legion print to give away that I was giving away at San Diego and Wizard World Chicago. W.C. Carani, my best friend and inker on Legionnaires will be making a rare convention appearance and we'll be happy to sign the print for you. See you there!

BALTIMORE COMICON: SEPTEMBER 27 AND 28th, 2008

Yes, I will be there. In what capacity is another matter. Silly me waited to long to get my things in order for an artist alley space, so I may or may not have one. It's all up in the air. So I'll put this out there. If you don't see me sitting anywhere, feel free to call me on my cell phone.
I'll be traveling light. I don't really have anything new so I'll just have some of my old sketchbooks and have paper and pencil to do some commissions.

WIZARD WORLD CHICAGO

It's here or will be here this weekend. After some registration problems for Artist Alley I have a space! Whoo! My table number is 3718 and you can find it on the map here.
No new sketchbook, sorry. I'm trying to get a couple new prints done. Here's a Black Canary. W.C. Carani will be joining me for Saturday or whenever he feels like sitting and we'll be passing out our free Legion of Superheroes anniversary print. So stop by and pick one up. Anime Central this weekend...

My brother Phil and I will be guests at the 2008 Anime Central in Chicago. Check it out. Kenichi Sonoda of Bubblegum Crisis, Gall Force, and Gunsmith Cats fame is going to be there. Lots of toys to buy, cosplay to see. I won't have anything new except for the free Legion of Superheroes print that will be given out all year. But stop by and say hi and pick one up and see the rest of the con fun!

Free Comic Book Day Weekend is here!

This first weekend of May will have me and my Legion cohort, W.C. Carani appearing at Westfield Comics in Madison, WI on Saturday May 3, 2008. We'll be there to sign books and give away our new Legion print, so stop by and grab one. Upon looking at the print I can't believe I forgot that chicken hawk, Gates! D'oh! But I didn't put all the team members on there anyways, so there.


Then on Sunday, May 4th we'll be appearing at the Oconocon in Oconomowoc, WI, just outside of Milwaukee. Again, stop on by and say hi and get a free Legion print in honor of it's 50th anniversary. I'll also have books and prints and will be taking commissions to be done at the show. Hope to see you this weekend!

More life drawing...

While I've been working on commissions, I really haven't had time to produce much more aside from what I've been doing in life drawing so, here are some more. It's always nice to draw a model with some more muscle tone. I found myself using the side of the pencil like a chisel.
